Ambitious plans for the redevelopment of Fort McPherson outside Atlanta are becoming clearer.

An application with a state planning agency proposes turning 96 acres of developable land at the Fort McPherson base, or Fort Mac, into a multi-phase project that leans heavily into commercial and office space.

Urbanize Atlanta reports the project, called TD Jakes—Fort Mac Village One, has plans in its initial phase for 105,000 square feet of commercial space, 84,300 square feet of offices, and about 85,000 square feet for senior living. Another 36,000 square feet would be devoted to food service. 

Later phases include 900 multifamily dwellings, 200 townhomes, 181 standalone houses, and a 207-room hotel with rental units.

The estimated completion date for the first phase is listed as 2028. 

The project’s developer is listed as a Dallas-based LLC called Fort Mac Village One. 

What used to be called the Hickory Hollow Mall was the largest retail center in Tennessee. But like many malls across the country, it met its demise, and the Metro bought it and the 57 acres for $44 million.

Soon all that will be left of the shuttered mall are four anchor buildings, three of which are occupied by Nashville State Community College, the Southeast Community Center, and KIPP Nashville. With the remainder of the property, Metro says it wants to transform the mall site and study area into a mixed-use, walkable center and regional destination.

The latest proposal for the recently renamed Global Mall at the Crossings calls for a multi-phase development that could incorporate the following elements across three “subdistricts” known as Arts Village, Innovation Village, and Opportunity Village:

• Transit center
• Mixed-use buildings with housing and ground-floor retail
• Parking garage
• Hotel
• Office and co-working spaces
• Space for performing arts, museums, or other civic use
• Retail, restaurants, and art studios
• A trail loop around the perimeter 

Los Angeles-based CIM Group has put its latest plans for an entertainment-centric project out there for everyone to see. The developer hopes to complete most of the project by the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports Centennial Yards has released new renderings to the project along with filing permits on the project it hopes to start building in June. Centennial Yards will be a 480,000-square-foot development of entertainment, retail and restaurant space. The site is near State Farm Arena and Mercedes Benz Stadium.

The “immersive eatertainment concept” will be housed in a three-story building, four-story entertainment venue for a single tenant, two-story building for food and beverage tenants, 14-story hotel with 233 rooms and a fan gathering plaza.

The next phase of the proposed $5 billion venture would join a couple of 18-story towers currently under construction. Set to deliver in 2025, those buildings will add 300 apartments, 292 hotel rooms and 30,000 square feet of new commercial space for restaurants and retailers.
