Sares Regis Group of Northern California (SRGNC) and Hunter Partners joined the Sunnyvale community recently for the official grand opening of Cityline, a transit-oriented, mixed-use district in downtown Sunnyvale. In the works since 2015 and developed in two phases, the project now encompasses 1,100 new apartments, one million square feet of office space, a large public plaza and 500,000 square feet of new retail and entertainment options.

The grand opening ceremony in Redwood Square, the city’s new gathering spot, included Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein, City Council members, civic leaders, residents and representatives of the development team.

“Cityline’s mixed-use design combines office, residential and all types of amenities to create a walkable, bikeable, transit-friendly core that offers dynamic experiences whether you work, live or play — or do all three — in Sunnyvale’s re-imagined downtown,” said Jeff Smith, director of development/SVP for SRGNC.

Texas Woman’s University topped off its future health sciences facility, placing the highest beam in place signifying its peak height.  

In September 2023, Texas Woman’s broke ground on a $107 million, 136,000 square-foot health sciences center in Denton to serve as an inter-professional education facility linking students in the allied health fields with an emphasis on preparing them to serve in rural settings. The building will expand health-related programming, community outreach, research and other activities at Texas Woman’s.

The building will include labs, classrooms, collaborative workspaces, outdoor clinic sites, a teaching kitchen, community health care clinics and student training spaces.

The building project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2025, with an opening set for the fall of 2025. The school’s role in health-related professional education will go a long way toward filling gaps in the state’s health-related positions. The Texas Department of State Health Services estimated that the state will face a shortage of most types of nurses by 2032, including a registered nurse shortage of more than 57,000, based on the needs of the growing population.

Davis Healthcare Real Estate has announced the formal opening of Eagan Specialty Center, a 36,100-square-foot Class A surgical facility at 2975 Holiday Court in Eagan, Minnesota. The building is the new home of Midwest Surgery Center, which occupies 27,000 square feet.

“This is the culmination of an extensive real estate needs analysis designed to solve complex operational issues for Midwest Surgery Center,” said Michael Sharpe, Principal, Davis. “This building was meticulously designed and constructed to enhance patient flow and surgeon performance while also supporting a diverse range of patients in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.”

The Davis team also overcame several challenges in developing the facility, including finding a site that fit the client’s geographic objectives and preferred cost parameters. Davis further reduced the cost structure by oversizing the building by 9,000 square feet to help spread the fixed costs over a larger basis. Anne Madyun, a vice president of brokerage at Davis, is currently marketing that space for lease. The design and construction team included Synergy Architecture Studio and Timco Construction.

The former Dom’s Kitchen and Market location in Lincoln Park will be replaced by The Fresh Market, a North Carolina-based supermarket chain. The Fresh Market will take over the 2730 North Halsted Street space, which was previously home to one of two Dom’s Kitchen & Market locations in Chicago that closed abruptly in April.

A spokesperson for The Fresh Market confirmed the plans in an email to Crain’s, adding, “We understand how cherished Dom’s was to the local community, and we are committed to providing an exceptional shopping experience that honors this legacy.” The Fresh Market operates 160 locations across 22 states, with four locations throughout Illinois in Crystal Lake, Geneva, Lake Forest and Wilmette.

Foxtrot has announced plans to reopen 10 Chicago locations, beginning with stores in Old Town and Gold Coast, which will be led by the company’s founder, Mike LaVitola.

A new luxury wellness and skin rejuvenation center is slated to open in Indiana, serving Granger and neighboring communities in South Bend and St. Joseph County.

dermani MEDSPA, a luxury medical spa backed by medical professionals, announced its newest location at 605 E University Drive. The medspa is set to open in February of 2024. dermani MEDSPAS offers laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation, and cosmetic procedures. A local husband and wife team are franchisees of the medspa brand and will be spearheading the opening to bring more accessible and quality aesthetic services to the area.

With 16 opened medical spas and an additional three locations set to open by the end of this year, the brand is actively growing and looking to expand in all markets across the U.S. dermani MEDSPA has signed franchise agreements in Fort Myers, Orlando, Sarasota, Decatur, Peachtree City, Summerhill, West Cobb, Albuquerque, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Kennesaw, Houston and Mansfield.

Sprouts Farmers Market joins Gabe’s and Ashley Furniture as anchor tenants in a 172,000-square-foot shopping center in Madison, TN. The specialty grocery store is planning a 25,715-square-foot space in the Shoppes at Rivergate, located at 2156 Gallatin Pike N. The new Sprouts is expected to open at the beginning of 2025.

This will be the Nashville area’s fifth Sprouts Farmers Market — the store already has locations in Bellevue, Franklin, Murfreesboro and on Nolensville Pike.

The organic grocer’s newest store will be located across from the new BJ’s Wholesale Club in a shopping center which recently came under new ownership.

The Nashville Business Journal reports Nashville-based Highland Capital paid $13 million for the Shoppes at Rivergate in September 2023 and plans to announce more tenants throughout 2024.
