Highland Resources broke ground on the infrastructure for Magnolia Landing, a planned mixed-use community located along the Ashley River in Charleston. Spanning 192 acres, the community will offer a blend of parks, marinas, residential and hospitality offerings, office space, retail shops, restaurants, waterfront docks and a variety of entertainment options, all set against more than a mile of river frontage.

Magnolia Landing’s first phase includes a high-rise waterfront community and a mid-rise community, both developed by Woodfield Development, offering 600 rental residences. Additionally, the community will include 158 luxury townhomes delivered by a prominent national developer during this first phase.

The first phase will also feature a waterfront office building, offering 100,000 square feet of Class-A office space in addition to 75,000 square feet of street-level retail, gourmet restaurants and other commercial space. And finally, the first phase will include a 125-key hotel, a marina and four restaurants.

Magnolia Landing expects to welcome its first residents in 2027.

South Street Partners and TPG Real Estate have formed a joint venture to acquire The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort in the Golden Isles.

The duo is acquiring the resort and golf club from MMI Hospitality Group, which initially invested in the property nearly 45 years ago. MMI Hotel Group’s management division will continue to operate The King and Prince. The JV will focus on elevating the resort and club offerings, with plans for a comprehensive renovation of rooms and common spaces.

Located on St. Simons Island, the 142-key resort campus spans nearly six acres with direct beach access and amenities that include bars and restaurants, resort-style swimming pools, and sports courts. Guests can enjoy an 18-hole golf course at The King and Prince Golf Club, located just a few miles north of the hotel. The resort offers 10,000 square feet of meeting space, along with a tented lawn for events and celebrations. The property includes developable land and beachfront condos for purchase. 

The Phoenix City Council has approved a zoning proposal allowing a nearly 300-acre master-planned development southwest of Phoenix, called Gila Foothills. It would span a stretch of agricultural land along Loop 202 just north of South Mountain. The plan would include a 50-acre resort, a hospital and housing at Laveen Village of Phoenix.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports that the plan specifically calls for 1,200 housing units, but to exceed that amount, the developer must bring a Level 1 trauma hospital, restaurants and retail, senior housing and townhomes. These amenities and services would allow for an additional 1,000 units to be developed on-site, previously zoned to allow for nearly 3,200 residential units.
