Amgen announced a $1 billion expansion to establish a second drug substance manufacturing facility in North Carolina. This brings the company’s total planned investment in Holly Springs to more than $1.5 billion, building on its previously announced $550 million commitment.

The $1 billion facility will incorporate cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices. In tandem with the existing facility, these investments will create 370 new jobs in the region, supporting the area’s biomanufacturing hub.

North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee approved a Job Development Investment Grant that will reimburse Amgen up to $4.9 million yearly across the grant’s 12-year duration. The project is expected to grow the state’s economy by $3.6 billion throughout that period. When fully operational, more than 720 jobs will be generated across both facilities. Construction began in March 2022, and that plant will be operational in 2026.

The firm owns nearly 109 acres at 4130 Friendship Road, and the two plants are slated for delivery there.

Davis Healthcare Real Estate has announced the formal opening of Eagan Specialty Center, a 36,100-square-foot Class A surgical facility at 2975 Holiday Court in Eagan, Minnesota. The building is the new home of Midwest Surgery Center, which occupies 27,000 square feet.

“This is the culmination of an extensive real estate needs analysis designed to solve complex operational issues for Midwest Surgery Center,” said Michael Sharpe, Principal, Davis. “This building was meticulously designed and constructed to enhance patient flow and surgeon performance while also supporting a diverse range of patients in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.”

The Davis team also overcame several challenges in developing the facility, including finding a site that fit the client’s geographic objectives and preferred cost parameters. Davis further reduced the cost structure by oversizing the building by 9,000 square feet to help spread the fixed costs over a larger basis. Anne Madyun, a vice president of brokerage at Davis, is currently marketing that space for lease. The design and construction team included Synergy Architecture Studio and Timco Construction.

Southwest Value Partners and StreetLights Residential plan to open two multifamily side-by-side towers in November at Nashville Yards. Leasing will begin this summer. Named The Everett and The Emory, the 34- and 35-story towers will together offer more than 650 residences for rent.

The two residential buildings will also offer a variety of features, including a shared third floor amenity deck with a pool, fitness center, game room, resident bar, co-working space, and golf simulator. The Everett’s 33^rd floor and The Emory’s 34^th floor will offer their own Sky Lounge complete with a rooftop dog park, additional coworking space and catering kitchen for events. 

StreetLights Creative Studio is the architect of record for the project and is handling all interior design in-house. Clark Construction is the general contractor.

Deer Park Town Center, an outdoor lifestyle shopping center in Deer Park, Illinois, is adding to its lineup of retailers and restaurants in 2024. The center is managed by JLL and features a collection of more than 60 premier retail, restaurant and service brands.

The latest tenants include Victoria’s Secret, Clean Juice, Ancho & Agave, Aerie and The Shade Store. Victoria’s Secret specializes in fashion collections including intimates, sleepwear, swim, fragrances and athleisure.

Clean Juice offers organic and cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and protein smoothies, while Ancho & Agave offers fresh Mexican food and drinks including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and margaritas.

The Shade Store is a custom window treatment company that offers a complete range of in-person and virtual design services, and Aerie is a lifestyle brand with feel-good collections of intimates and apparel. Deer Park Town Center is a pedestrian-friendly shopping destination located at Rand Road and Long Grove Road.
